Phobia
Phobia
Series that uses the photographic medium to move away from the objective vision of reality. It aims to be on the border between reality and fiction.
Series which in terms of substance has a deeper meaning.
It expresses the pain, fears, and traumas hidden behind masks that the individual wears to adapt to the outside world.
In Jungian analytical therapy, she talks about the shadow and the persona. The persona represents the social mask, the facade that the individual presents to the world, while the shadow is the repressed part of the personality containing the negative aspects.
This artwork is liberating. It aims to bring the shadows into the light to accept oneself and become more authentic.
Author
Passionate photographer, Alexandra Leroux has been practicing this activity for fifteen years.
She does it first as a hobby. Photography is an opportunity for her to take a break from a very rhythmic life.
In 2011, she enrolled in the Agnès Varda photography school. She carries out various projects: portrait photography, fashion, reportage.
She understands that the image must represent an offbeat moment, a fragility, the expression of an emotion.
She also attaches importance to the human dimension in the realization of a project. Meet the subject photographed, develop a relationship of trust and transpose the sensitivity of the subject to the image.
In 2018, she began classes at the School of Arts in Ixelles. She is interested in and deepens the artistic dimension associated with the image.
She leaves more room for creativity in the realization of her projects. It moves away from the objective representation of reality. She tries to see otherwise.
The image must disturb, astonish.
