Single Mothers

Never as in the poorest and most deprived places of the great African metropolises, the meaning of Women’s Day takes on a deeper and contemporary meaning.
The pandemic has further aggravated the conditions of these women, forcing them to live below the poverty line, be deprived of all services, and be even more segregated in smelly slums like Kibera in Kenya.
The pandemic and food crisis have made them even more vulnerable to violence, since 2020 a study conducted by One has confirmed that about 1 in four women are victims of violence or abuse, the youngest, girls 14,15, and 16 years old are the most targeted. Young future mothers are forced to give birth in makeshift places, increasing the risk of complications before and after birth for the newborn and them. The father’s financial support is almost always non-existent, so many of these young mothers start working in small businesses.
